What is a construction punch list?
A punch list (also called a snag list or deficiency list) is a document listing work that doesn't conform to contract specifications. It's typically created near project completion and must be resolved before final payment.
Who creates the punch list?
Usually the project owner, architect, or general contractor creates the punch list during a final walkthrough. Subcontractors are then responsible for completing items assigned to them.
How should I prioritize punch list items?
High priority items affect safety, functionality, or building codes. Medium priority items are visible defects that don't affect function. Low priority items are minor cosmetic issues. Focus on high priority items first.
